anyone walking Overland Track 16th April?

Postby redshev » Tue 27 Mar, 2012 4:37 pm

Hi,

Am on short time constraints - arriving Launceston 15th April, planning to get Tassielink bus to Cradle Mountain 08:15 on 16th, and need to catch the 12:30 ferry from Narcissus Hut on the 22nd as flying out of Hobart 24th to Melbourne to cathc my international flight out of Oz; no buses to Hobart on 23rd :(

Anyone want to hike with me for the 'safety in numbers' idea? I will be carrying a PLB, and think my gear should all be up to scratch - will buy gaiters though ...

Anyone think I'm crazy to try this?! :)

I have a permit for the 18th. I'll be taking my time, but maybe we'll run into each other. If you're crazy, so am I. Good luck!

Is there really no public transport to Hobart on 23rd? Wow, that's surprising. It would give you a time buffer if you could find transport on 23rd.
Good luck with it, and do drop back in on the forum to tell us how you get on.

I know - annoying as would be great for the back up & to have one extra day for side-trips ... It's Tassielink has no service that day. I fgured if I miss that day, I could maybe find some other way to get into Hobart from Lake St Clair on the 23rd ...

Am almost all packed up re supplies - excited!! :D

great, so at least I know fellow crazies on the path. If you're starting later & taking time (lucky you!), I hope we don't bump into each other (no offence!) as it means I'm behind schedule!

Have a great hike :)
