Knife Shop have the 511 basic for $15- at the moment until stocks run out.
I've just ordered a couple for the grandkids
https://www.knifeshopaustralia.com.au/m ... rised-austI think that this is good value and I'd have ordered more if I didn't already have too many blades

Swedish steel. Something they'll keep for life. Popular with fisho's.

I found a Frosts/Mora on a beach near Cygnet 20 years ago, probably from a Salmon farm. Very simple, strong and stay-sharp Swedish steel. They have a Wiki page. Out of interest I include an interesting find - one with a fire lighter. Pandani's been called the bushman's friend as the dead leaves/fronds underneath the head stay dry whatever the conditions.

Well the elder grandchild was pleased but not excited to have her own knife.
She seems reasonably happy with the "Knife Rules"
It lives in my drawer when not being used, only to be used outside and no stabbing people with it.
She can take it home when she reaches 16YO
She and the ten year old are both now OK with striking a spark from a Ferrocerium rod.
