Places you can light a fire

Postby panda10 » Sat 23 Feb, 2013 2:44 pm

Just wondering if anyone knew of a place out bush where you can have a fire and (if possible fishing) in Tassie.

There are quite a lot but with the summer we have had down here I personally wouldn't light a fire for a couple of months just in case something went horribly wrong. Quite a lot of forestry reserves have wood bbq sites, some places in the bay of fires you can..I don't trout fish so can't comment on the highland lakes.
Do you want to build a snowman?

Absolutely not where there is peat as the base, which is pretty much anywhere in the WHA and a heap of the balance of the Island that is not farm (plantation forest is farmland) land.

Any place people camp & fish judging by the evidence...
but seriously there are plenty of places with provided fireplaces; state forest parks;
even so, fire season & windiness are very important considerations;
also, leaving fire unattended is pretty bad form
Nothing beats a nice camp fire

Also any places that have a walk in say 2 hours would be good.
