Doddle about Melaleuca/Bathurst Harbour

Postby chiz » Mon 31 Jan, 2011 3:46 pm

Hi folks,

I am planning to fly into Melaleuca in the not too distant future and would like to head up to Bathurst Harbour for a bit of exploring/photogrpahy. Does anyone have any suggestions on walks to do within this area for say 3-4 days? Obvious options would include following the port davey track to Bathurst Narrows or even spend a few days at Claytons. No doubt a fair few of you readers would have been through this area so some suggestions would be fabulous.

Also head out to Horseshoe Inlet, good camping and only 200M off the main track.

Hi Andrew - if you're taking a tent, I'd consider camping at New Harbour (maybe 4 hours walk from Melaleuca) or even Hidden Bay (about 2 hours further) and Ketchem Bay (another 2 hours). Those beaches are superb - in the right weather!

cheers
