Hi,
I'm thinking of an overnighter for my wife who is a newbie to bushwalking.
I'm thinking of pine valley as my local bushwalking club are going there in January. It's been a while since I was there but I remember it as pretty easy, but I was 27 years old and very fit at the time.
Anyway, would this be suitable for a not particularly fit newbie with a light pack?
From memory you camp at pine valley and walk up to the plateau for the interesting bits.wouod that be suitable for a newbie?

Yes, it is is flat pretty much the whole way from Narcissus. The climb up to the plateau below the Acropolis is steep but definitely doable for an unfit newbie if you take your time.

From Pine Valley hut to the plateau took me around an hour, maybe slightly more. I am not the fittest either!

Good walk for a newbie 
just don't take on to much too much weight as "pack horse" even newbies need to learn how to carry their share

Took the family there after Christmas last year and it was a wonderful trip for the less initiated. There'll still be bits of effort for the less fit but all quite manageable. But why only overnight? Spend at least two nights there if not three to have time for all the side trips. It'll also be much more leisurely and they'll enjoy more than one that's rushed.

I agree, the club are up there a few days but it's Christmas and we have to make it around all the rellies as well as fit in a walk. I might try two nights.
The alternative is WOJ but I thought that the walk onto the plateau might be a bit much.

We did two nights too. The only time when there was a bit of frustration was on the return leg when I had to up the pace to catch the ferry and one of my charges didn't enjoy it with a bit of lethargy, heat and weight. So it's important to keep the trip relaxed with plenty of rest and sightseeing than a quick there and back.
