Southern Ranges GPS

Hey all,

Does someone have a recent GPS track of the Southern Ranges to PB?

Ideally also the markers of the campsites along the way.

Any assistance appreciated! Cheers

If you need a GPS route, you probably shouldn't be going...
However, there's plenty of track notes available with a quick Google search and Chapman has good detailed ones in his book.

I first did the Southern Range back in 2005.. then again in 2010.
The difference in a few years was huge.
There was a bit of route finding and scrub back in 2005... I got fairly scratched up.
In 2010 I barely got a scratch let alone needed gaiters.
I'd say its seen a lot of traffic.

I did it 2012. Amazed at how easy the route finding was. Only issue was somehow going in circles near Pandani Knob and finding myself heading back towards Pindars . . .

I too had very little trouble route finding, but I have heard stories from others who did not find it so easy. The worst spot I found was down underneath Kameruka Moraine where the track was quite boggy and indistinct in places. I've heard stories of people losing their way at Leaning Tea-Tree Saddle.

The problem with trying to follow a GPS route is that you may only be 10m off where the track is, but you could take a long time getting to it due to dense scrub. I may have a GPX file floating around somewhere, I'll see if I can find it. Better that you have it and not need it.
