Would members who live in Launceston, or who can travel there, be interested in meeting up for a social get together some time? I'm suggesting at a coffee shop or similar but feel free to make other suggestions. I've created a "meet up proposal" in the
bwt meetup tool here where you can select from some suggested saturday mornings that might suit you.
Also please feel free to post some suggestions for venues and when we have a few I'll add them to the routes part of the meetup.
NB: Please register your interest in any of the proposed dates on the meetup tool so we can get some idea of numbers. The suggested dates are listed on the meetup tool HERE.

Agreed. Any place with COFFEE in Launceston. Instead of the rancid watery muck you usually get...
OK, probably a bit harsh.

Talk about coffee snobs!

Hm yes would be interested to come, but 7th - 9th we plann to go for a bushwalk and 22nd and the following 3 weeks we are away. Well I hope this will happen again some time

Cafe Blue in Inveresk makes good coffee, but their service is slooowwwwww.
There's a new cafe in the Museum at Inveresk that isn't bad.
Yes, I work in the Inveresk precinct.

I think this is the kind of thing where it's impossible to find a date that suits everyone. So I agree that it would be great to do it a couple of times a year if it works out ok.
Note that the dates originally proposed were those that suited the two people who's idea this was. However I think the strollers may be walking on one of these dates which might rule it out for many people.

Crikey Nik, a couple of times a year? How will you cope with so much coffee?
Wed 29 Jul, 2009 1:15 pm
I've registered my availability thanks Nik, I don't drink coffee though (at all) so can't give any advice on where to get a good brew but I like the idea of somewhere like Blue Cafe or Inveresk where there's easy parking

Sounds interesting...
is this it? 'Choose Cafe'.

Yeah, me either, but I guess we have to try to find something that suits those with unnatural chemical dependencies.

I might end up having a milk shake or something.
Actually, has anyone tried the chilli thick-shake at 'The Chocolate Studio' in Cuisine Lane? Wow - those are fantastic, when ordered hot (in the chilli sense, not the ice-cream sense). This could be another good place to add to the options list. More than just chocolate, it's a great little cafe.

hmmm, that links to complex for those with a fish like attention span, looks like I could be in Launny this Saturday am....???
If so, I'm addicted to pretty much everything so any venue would suit.

Unfortunately, this Saturday isn't on the list as both of the original proponents are unavailable this Saturday.

btw Nik, what's with Tuesday the 8th of August 2000 as an option to meet up, do you have some sort of time machine that we will all squeeze into?

Yes but I've just remembered it's not compatible with Tuesdays so I've changed it to 2009 instead.

Is the one.

Looks like we've got 4 or five takers with their names on the meetup tool so far. Any more?
I'll have to add the possible venues shortly. The suggestions so far are Blue (Inveresk), Choose Cafe (Inveresk), Chocolate Studio (City). Any more before I add them all to the meetup tool?
Sun 02 Aug, 2009 9:28 am
I won't commit to the meetup tool, but PM me when it's going to happen and if I can, I will.
Sun 02 Aug, 2009 2:00 pm
Well it looks like it's going to be the 22nd but I'll wait a couple more days before finalising that. I've now added the three suggested venues to the meetup tool. So go ahead and put your name down for yor preferred venues (and dates)
HERE.
Mon 03 Aug, 2009 12:51 pm
I'm going to confirm the 22nd of August as the date for this (I have to look after the kids while the wife is away on the 29th which leaves the 22nd as the most popular choice).
Is 10:00am a good time for everyone, or do other people like to sleep in on Saturdays?
All of the venues appears to suit everyone so far, so somebody's going to have to make a decision soon.

I thought about it...
Takes about half hour to warm up.
Croplines at least have freshly roasted beans, but their cake selection is limited.
I added my name to the meetup, but not confirmed.
Here's a link that might help.

This is to confirm the details of the Launceston meetup as follows:
Date: Saturday 22nd August, 2009
Time: 10:00am
Venue: Blue Cafe & Bar, Inveresk
Agenda: None!It looks like we have around 7 people coming along (according to the meetup tool), which is a good number. If anyone else does decide to come along, please
add your name using the meetup tool. (If we end up getting a significant increase in numbers before then, it may be worth notifying the Cafe, or making a booking).

Hope that helps.

Unfortunately Google doesn't always get it right, so here is a "manual" update.

For the "tech heads" the GPS co-ordinates are 41° 25' 41.45 S and 147° 08' 21.97" W
