I’m hoping to run the OLT in a day sometime next year but I reckon the turning around for another lap is pretty mad! I know there’s a few ultra runners on this forum - any thoughts?

I'm stoked it looks like a South to North walk is now 'allowed'. I've run the Cradle Mt Ultra a few times but really enjoyed my early hikes where I went from Lake St Clair to Ronny Creek before the regulations and fees.

Dicky Dwyer used to do this on a semi-regular basis as part of his work week - Cradle to Cynthia one day, back the next. When there was enough snow, he took skis. Not sure how often, but probably roughly once a month during my TasPAWS days.

I haven't checked, but as far as I'm aware, it's allowed in winter.

It was allowed. Covid measures said north to south only ... so they could attempt to limit the numbers of people along the way.

I think an exemption was granted as the runner was expected to complete the trip without stopping.
