Hi all,
Please can anyone suggest where to get a gas fuel cartridge (screw top) in Deloraine? The Deloraine Service Tas shop deosn't carry them.
Or otherwise, after 3pm on a Sunday in Launceston (after all the outdoor stores are closed)? I have tried Bunnings, Gunns & Kmart & they only sell the tall, skinny variety which aren't very stable for use with a bushwalking stove.
Thanks!

Hi,
We bought gas cannisters in a camping/sports store on the main drag of Deloraine on a recent trip to Tassie. It was on the left hand side as you drive in from Launceston, from memory

not far after the driveway entry to Woolies and before the public toilets ). I can't recall what the store was called. We asked at Woolies and someone there gave us directions to the store. (That was mid to late on a Friday afternoon).
'Hope that helps.
Cheers,
JB

We are doing the Walls of Jerusalem through to the Overland via the Never Never; our flight arrives in Launceston 2:35pm on the Sunday, then we're off to Deloraine that evening & start the walk early Tuesday morning. We had intended on buying fuel in Deloraine on the Monday, but have been advised by the owner of our accommodation that we should get gas canisters before we get to Deloraine...

I live in Perth, the first town you will drive through after leaving the airport and only 10 minutes away. Happy to get cannisters for you and meet up if that would help.

Thank you kindly for the offer, but unfortunately we don't have our own transport... we'll be on a Redline bus!

Sorry, I should have thought of that. I'd be happy to drive over to the airport and meet you there.
It's a very regular trip from home to collect visiting rellies, and I enjoy the drive.
pm me with details of the cannisters you need, flight details and how to recognise you if I can help.

Thank you so much everyone!
With your helpful suggestions, we have found a shop that carries the exact canisters we need.
This is the info in case anyone might need it in the future:
Good Sports Deloraine
3/78 Emu Bay Rd
Deloraine TAS 7304

Another alternative is Gunns Mitre10 on Emu Bay Road.
We arrived in Deloraine on a Sunday and the sports shop
was closed. Mitre 10 had the fuel we needed and also stocked
a variety of other liquid and gas camping fuels.

This was actually our first thought, however, the phone number was out of service & after speaking to the Launceston Gunns Mitre 10, I was told they went out of business last year! Funny considering their details are still up on the web on many local directory sites.
