Hey guys and gals, taking a group to the WoJ this weekend (original ey...) and was wondering if there is any good clearings/campsites nearish the road anywhere between Mole Creek and the start of the main WoJ track. 2wd accessible, easy to find in the dark, space for at least 4 tents.
Thankyou very much.

Hi Will, there is an area off the mersey forest road at 55s 437016e 5395997n (wgs84) that should suit you, just a little track turning left from a sharp right hand corner.
Hope this is some help

There's a few spots along the Mersey forest road on the Rowallan side before the walls turn off where you could pitch a few tents. I've stayed in one such spot right near the road with 3 tents, and there was room for more. The ground was grassy with a few rocks here and there.

Isnt there a picnic area half way between the two dams on the mersey? where they watch the kayak comps etc. There is even a proper toilet there

Yes, good point. Very large official camping area, with some facilities. Just look out for the short length of sealed road after it's been gravel for some time (it then turns gravel again after the camping area).

Yeah good thinking, didn't think of that one.

There is also the Arm River Outdoor Education Centre about 500M up the Arm River Track road but the facilities are locked I think. There is a phone number on one of the following images. Nice walks there to the Falls. I found a couple of old photos.

Not sure if the sign is still current.
There are numerous camping spots along the lakes and between them by the river

Huge thanks guys, exactly what I was after.
Figured there would be a lot of good spots around the road, it is a very popular area.
Catering for a group requires a different approach than I would use myself.
Particularly like the sound the sound of the gravel - sealed - gravel transition. Should be able to handle that even if the clock turn am!
Thanks again!
Will
