A very short trip to Bay of Fires

My wife & I will be in Tassie for a few days over this coming weekend and I've arranged it so we'll be spending Sunday night at St Helens and don't have to be in Launceston until Monday evening.

Its over 30 years since I was last on the Apple Isle and I've never been to the east coast at all, so we'd like to have a morning (or mid -day) walk in the Bay of Fires area and we're looking for suggestions of where to start, tracks, etc:

Hi John,
With such a small amount of time I would just head to Binnalong Bay and walk the beaches to Cosy Corner and back, finish up with a nice coffee at Angasi.
If you have time there are some nice short walks on the way to Lonnie, St Columba Falls, Ralph Falls, it's a nice drive through Pyengana with some good views of Mt Victoria.

I'd recommend driving north to Ansons Bay then continuing on to the Eddystone Point Lighthouse... It's the most easterly point of Tas so it is a great view point for looking north and south... Then I'd just walk in either direction until you run out of time and head back the way you came!

I like the area around Angasi too, walking north from there along the beach is nice.

Looking at the map I think the Angasi area fits our itinerary best and then we can enjoy the drive thru to launceston

Its a pity our time is so limited, but I have to confess its limited coz I've just had 2 1/2 weeks off which included about 80km on various parts of the Heysen trail in SA, but where ever I go I like to squeeze a walk of some sort in.

We've, also, already booked the OT with Cradle huts for 29th Dec, so we'll definitely be back for more

The weather was much nicer than I expected and we actually walked the Wineglass bay Hazards beach track on the Sunday and along Binalong Bay for a couple of hours on the Monday. Only negative was that Angasi was shut despite it being a long weekend Monday.

Unfortunately, no its not a dolphin, its an Albatross trying to take off too low and clipping the water.

It was days like the Sunday & Monday that make me wonder why my forebears left Tassie for Victoria, but the freezing cold windy rainy Friday before did give a few hints
