Anne Circuit Campsites

Wed 12 Jan, 2011 4:54 pm

Hi All

Planning a trip round the Mt Anne Circuit next weekend. Have done Anne twice, camping on Eliza plateau both times - this time want to give the full curcuit a go.
Depending on the weather the next couple of days may re-factor our plans... (somehow wet slippery rock scrambling up Anne and over the Notch have me cautious).

Just wondering what people's experience of various campsites at Lonely Tarns vs Lake Picone is.
If our circuit ambitions get twarted, can anyone advise where good campsites on Schnells Ridge are?

Thanks
Kramster

The camping at Picone and Judds charm is amazing.

Camping is possible in many places on Schnells.

I have camped at both and prefer Judd's Charm. You get tremendous early morning views of Lightning Ridge in the right conditions.

Thanks guys.
Just to check - is Judd's Charm the larger one directly over the ridge south of Picone? (not named on my 1:25000, but its at 913m)

Yes, that's Judds Charm.
I have been through the Anne circuit twice.
First time as a fairly long day walk.
Second time we stayed at Judds Charm, approximately where the capital 'L' is in 'Lonely Tarns' heading on the 1:25k map;
very good camping everywhere around this area, just pick somewhere with the best views of Lot / Lightning Ridge.
Lake Picone also looked very nice, tho could be a little damp after rain as it is low & flat; there is a nice little stream running through it.
You really couldn't go all that wrong with either camp site, it's truly a beautiful area, enjoy.
