well marked and easy to follow route although i've never done it this time of year..hope your prepared for snow! bit of a steep climb initially but levels out once above the treeline. takes about 4 - 5 hours from the car park to dixons kingdom from memory.

If you're going up this time of year keep and close eye on the weather forecast.
This shot was taken during a walk in June '09, deep snow from the Trappers Hut onward and no visible track markers - it took us 7 hours to walk to this point, which is about 2/3 of the way to Dixons Kingdom...

I've been up there in snow in September with clear skies. The temperature at StClair was -6 so I was pretty grateful for a sleeping bag rated -10. Got some great shots of frozen tarns.

I'm not trying to talk you out of it. I'm just saying you need to b e very well prepared for these conditions. And as Nick said, check the forecast before you go. Oh, and don't expect the forecast always to be correct.
