Tenkara fishing in Lake Vera/Tahune

I know it's a long shot, but has anyone ever attempted to fly fish/tenkara in Lake Vera or Tahune on their Frenchmans Cap journey?

If so, has anyone ever caught any fish?

If you're talking about trout I didn't think there were anyn in either of those two lakes.

Would certainly be a long way to carry live fish to release them!
