Mt Field track closure

G'day all.

Just a heads up that the area around the ski tow buildings on Mt Mawson at Mt Field will be closed for around the next month. For those that know the area, Sitzmark Lodge is being demolished and the area around the building needs to be fenced off while this happens. There will be no day shelter available at the site until the works are complete. The nearest day shelters are at the Rodway tow, and Lake Dobson carpark. The alpine area will still be accessible via the Jeep Trail and Snow Gum tracks (follow the signs).

Also be aware that there will be an increased level of traffic on the Jeep trail. For any further info, drop me a line here, or phone PWS at Mt Field on 6288 1149.

So a new shelter was not built in 2004? or it was and this is now being demolished?

No new shelter was built in 2004. The original building is the one being demolished.

Sitzmark is being pulled down? That should be a heritage listed building, it's full of history. You can't have Mt Field without Sitzmark . . .
