Goodness! One would think it was rocket surgery!

1. Get people on side... Consult, educate! (I dunno, i'm not an expert there :| ) No good throwing a management plan in all its vagary at the general public... History, funding reality and options, management options, chosen action?
2. Set a number limit and start telling people (i haven't had a pass in a long time, they inc vehicle rego already...at the least.. don't they....?) A list of tracks and number limits?
3. Get a ranger back in there
4. Seek funding for the most vital track works
5. See how things go
6. All sorts of other minor things, all else fails- permits, tattoos, exterminate troublesome opposition etc etc

I suspect because you would have to give us permission to actually do that otherwise it would be considered as spam. When you give us your email address as part of your park pass purchase we only ask if you would like to receive the Buttongrass Newsletter. You also tell us how you would like to receive the newsletter.

Hi Tastrax

I would be more than interested in receiving notification of plans and proposed restrictions. But I would take a dim view on being bombarded with propaganda.

A simple short email with a link is not spam in my opinion but filling my letter box with how wonderful my local member of parliament is unwelcome.

I would like to see Parks take a holistic approach to park management and evaluate what are the consequences of pushing a bushwalking tourist advertising campaign is having. And how to deal with the numbers it generates.

This piecemeal approach based on one area simply pushes problems of over use to another area. It is not unexpected that restricting the OLT has pushed numbers to use the Walls and find novel arguments why they say by using the Nevernever are not walking the area.

As mentioned countless times twenty years ago overuse was not the issue it is nowadays. It appears that the generic Parks pass is a con with park specific fees coming in. We have commercial bushwalking guides that list tracks not acknowledged by Parks adding to the issue. I dread words ending in est as hardest attracts a huge crowd to the Arthurs.

Now is the time to consider all parks and all aspects. If a park can only handle a limited number then for economic reasons tourist should be restricted to tour groups as that generates the maximum amount of revenue for the local economy. We have for years been told tourism is the future so now the future is here so time to get the best bang for buck from it.

Not aware of a parks bushwalking advertising campaign? not aware of much recently from Tourism Tas? I think it's more likely private sources driving where people walk, especially more obscure routes?

Anyhow, just bumping this, two weeks to go. It's not the only opportunity to let parks know that ur interested in how your parks will look. Just one of them.. but one including a hint at what the future may bring?

Remember, if something generally seems 'wrong' in our parks then likely at least as many park staff would agree with you than disagree.. if they could!

There is always the option of contacting the responsible minister. :

I did see the PWS FB page reminding folk for submissions the other day https://www.facebook.com/pages/Tasmania ... 7512044296

Interesting comment re hammocks from a member. I agree, the trees aren't a tool for the latest fad.

Hello
Added a commit on the latest thread - Using Hammocks in Tasmanian Parks
http://bushwalk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=14165&p=187203#p187203

Hope PWS discuss and make policy changes e.g. do not hang hammocks on Native Conifers of Tasmania.

Maybe create zones for their use. Don’t discourage use, just help facilitate their use
Probably get a ranger in there once in a while.

Cheers...
