Greetings all,
This just came through the parks and wildlife waste book feed and might be of interest for those planning to do some walking in this area in light of the total fire ban and risky fire conditions across Tas ( and large parts of the north island) today

Freycinet and Douglas-Apsley tracks closed today due to fire danger
28 January 2014
Due to the Fire Weather Warning for today, 28 January, 2014,the following East Coast national park tracks will be closed. The closure of the tracks is required by the Parks and Wildlife Service Fire Action Plan and the Freycinet Emergency Management Plan, in the interest of public safety.
Freycinet National Park
Wineglass Bay Lookout Track CLOSED
Wineglass Bay Track CLOSED
Hazards Circuit Track CLOSED
Mt Amos Track CLOSED
Peninsula walking tracks CLOSED
Sleepy Bay Track CLOSED
South Friendly Beaches 4WD access track CLOSED
The following facilities will be OPEN at Freycinet National Park and in the local area
Freycinet Visitor Centre
Cape Tourville Boardwalk
Friendly Beaches
All campsites and beaches in the immediate Coles Bay area
Douglas-Apsley National Park
Leaberra Walking Track CLOSED
The following facilities will be OPEN at Douglas-Apsley National Park
Walking track to the Water Hole
All tracks and roads are expected to reopen on Wednesday, 29 January 2014.
