Help putting together a Loop around Lees Paddocks

Tue 16 Dec, 2014 9:56 am

Hi, I was hoping to get some help putting together a loop in the Lees Paddocks area.

I am probably asking the impossible but ideally I would like to start and finish where I leave the car without too much back tracking. I would be willing to walk a kilometre or 3 on a road if need be to get back to the car.

Something similar to going into the Walls and back out via the Junction Track for instance....but obviously not that exact walk ;)

It doesn't have to be in the Lees Paddocks area but it does need to be overnight and preferably in the north of the state.

Any suggestions? I am taking a new walker out so I am hoping to appeal, so hopefully I can keep the walk under or around 30 kilometres.

Looking at the map I can see plenty of well defined tracks but none of them appear to show that they loop together............PM me if the info I need doesn't suit the thread.

Thanks for any help, we are heading out this weekend.

In via Lake Myrtle Track, out via Moses Creek? There's a bit of road to link the carparks but not that much, and plenty of options for sidetrips.

When you say Moses Creek, is that the track that runs past Choister lagoon? If so, does that track loop up with the Junction Lake Track? My map shows a break in it. It isn't far so I am guessing there is a pad to join them up?

Yeah, the track does get a bit vague up past Junction Lake, but it's not hard to pick up again if you lose it. And it's easy to find the route up onto the Cathedral Plateau as well.

Thank you very much for the info. That will be our little trip this weekend then.

Hopefully my mate enjoys and we don't end up being a recipient of your signature ;) Im not sure my mate realises yet just how 'cosy' my tent is with 2 people in it!

The good news is we didn't share the tent. ;)

We stayed in junction lake hut.

The walk was quite enjoyable although it was two pretty big days for my mate who is new to hiking and I'm feeling it myself to be honest.
There were a few navigational challenges and the environment is doing its best reclaim some sections of the track.
Thanks for the recommendation.
