Bugger :? I'll have to look into that - I'm no doubt missing out on some good shots! Thanks anyway MickyB.
Edit: Yep, I've worked it out. Clicking on the title took me to that. Clicking on the photo took me to the shots. All good!

Sorry FootTrack. I misread your post. I thought you meant the link to Andy's website wasn't working

Beautiful shots. I'd ask if you camped at Leonards and went up Achilles at first light but it might be taken wrongly . . .

And I'd answer in the affirmative if I thought it wouldn't be taken wrongly...

Hey all,

For those that are interested in the full trip report from this trip, you can find it here, on Tas Geo.

Happy, Days!

Lovely photos. I was wondering how you managed to keep the batteries good for the trip to take more shots? Every time i have done snow trips they have gone flat due to the cold. That is even with spares in my bag too and keeping it close to my body before i use the camera.

Keep the spare batteries close to your body too, and get all your batteries in your sleeping bag at night.

I had a portable battery with a usb cable stashed in one of my food drops. I had two batteries and with two recharges, ie: the equivalent of six fully charged batteries, they lasted the distance, but I had to be quite conservative. In the past I've carried a portable solar charger but this is not viable in Tassie in winter...

Hey Andy

You've got a link to your website on the first page of this thread. I'm guessing you've changed web hosts or modified something in your website configuration to change the URL settings, and the link no longer works.

If you look in the "public_html" directory of your website for a file called .htaccess or htaccess.txt and add the following code to it:

Redirect 301 /the-reserve-in-winter http://mountainsofaustralia.com/?page_id=290

- it will fix the problem.

The code will automatically send the visitor to the content they were looking for.

Yes you could simply correct the link in your thread- but there might be other "old links" out there pointing to the same "error", given that the original destination page had such awesome content :) You don't want to be losing that traffic.

This event made me discover your update to your AAWT posts.

Wow. Just "Wow!!" Thanks for doing such a wonderful job.

Well done.

Cheers

WildLight

Thanks for reporting the broken link wildlight. I'm going to help Andy out with his website and one of the first things I'll be doing is re-enabling the "pretty" links and getting ride of the "page_id" style ones.

In answer to PTC's question about battery life, I spent a week with Andy on this trip and went through less than one full battery. I keep the batteries in my pocket and now buy genuine batteries (rather than the Chinese knock-offs I used to use). I also tend not to review pictures too much on the trip and have a short timeout for the camera to sleep when not in use.

I think having a higher-end camera (I carry a Canon 5D III) also helps as the batteries are more powerful but of course they are also more expensive as a result.

I wish my camera charged from USB like Andy's as I already carry a USB charger for my other electronic devices but I'm stuck carrying spare dedicated camera batteries.
