3 days Taussi hike

Hello mates,

i know, a similar topic was recently made, however, it employs slightly different conditions.

I am going to Taussi in one week for a 3 days/ 3 nights hike. I love whole day walking and can make 30 to 40 km a day. I adore alpine landscape, but would like to see more than that. I have my light gear with me and will be sleeping outside.

What do you think could suit me the best considering the fact that i might be taking public transport to/ from my hiking start/ finish point?

When I walked the south coast track (east to west), we passed a woman who was walking around 30kms a day, skipping campsites at Point Eric, Little Deadmans, surprise bay, and maybe even granite beach. Doing this may be an option for you, but getting public transport to and from the track (most notably the flight) is expensive.

Doesn't give you much time, and the need for public transport limits your options further. It would be easiest to base yourself somewhere like Cynthia Bay (or Pine Valley) or Pencil Pine and do a series of daywalks.

Thank you for the ideas, indeed the time I have is really limited. Another thought of mine was to take a bus to Ouse and walk down direction Dover. What do you think?

Mt Field would be the go if you are relying on public transport. No need for 30 kilometre days though.

Well, getting prepared that late certainly doesn't help =).

Mt Field looks nice, thank you. I was also considering staying in the south west of the island.

Is there actually an online map with overview of all of the walking tracks? I struggle to find a good one online.

In case someone is interested, I ended up walking the Huon track and after the Arthur pass finishing at the lakes. I so underestimated this island and its wilderness. It was magic.
