Volunteers sought for South West National Park

Postby PeterJ » Sun 11 Sep, 2016 9:44 pm

If you have ever thought of helping look after our precious South West National Park, then here is your chance. You can sign up to help and be kept informed of the details and dates by clicking here to visit this site.

Various tasks are planned for the park, starting over the Spring, Summer and Autumn of 2016 2017 including to repair tracks and remove vegetation and also the remove Erica on the Gordon Rd from the park boundary to the Scotts Peak Rd junction.

It is a joint project between the Friends of Mount Field and Parks and Wildlife Service.

The main job for the summer months is to remove encroaching vegetation and do some track repair on the Red Tape track to Lake Judd.

The first task however, is for Saturday 17 September 2016 to remove Erica. It is growing along the Gordon Road and in a few places spreading into the bush. This time of year should make it quite easy to pull the plants out. A few more details are here.

Parks are providing transport from Mount Field plus road caution signs for any passing traffic. If you can help then send me a private message.
