Fourways campsite, on the Penguin-Cradle Trail

Sun 29 Nov, 2009 6:39 pm

Has anyone stayed at the Fourways campsite, at the end of the Penguin-Cradle trail recently? If so, what were conditions like there, and did you get any pictures?

Cheers!

Anyone pass by it on the way to Cradle Mountain, and able to tell me if it's a fairly decent clearing? Any feedback/information at all?

I haven't been there recently but it is always a very leechy area and not a place where I would like to camp. Last time I was there I made a cup of coffee and when I drank the last of it - there was a leech in the bottom, still alive!!

I was hoping to do a short overnighter- from the West Coast Road to 4 Ways and back via the Vale River, or through to the Cradle Mountain Lodge, depending on if my darling missus would come. I'm recovering from an abcess in my heel, so a nice, easy walk is in order, and that one's only short.

Definitely a great area for leeches. We did a day walk earlier in the year into there and back from the 4WD track that heads towards Reynolds Falls on a drizzly day and the ground was just teaming with them. Not somewhere I'd camp if I had a choice. The area is quite clear though.
