Video: takayna - The Threat to Tasmania's Wild Lands

This powerful documentary takes us to the wilds of Tasmania, where the aboriginal people who live there – and the lands that they reside on – are under threat by outside forces, including the logging and mining industries which are exploiting the natural resources for their own benefit. The beautifully shot short film is incredibly eye opening and a direct look at how one of the last truly wild spaces on our planet is being threatened. It is sobering stuff to say the least.

Thanks for posting that Wayno.

I,m trying to take some positives out of it and its good to know there are still such inspirational people involved in trying to maintain a balance.

I hate to quibble . . . OK, no, let's be honest - sometimes I love to do it . . . but palawa kani does not capitalise place names. Would it be possible to edit the title?

I saw this as part of Banff. It was shocking and inspiring at the same time. Planning a few trips in to the Tarkine in the near future.

Thanks for posting that in your blog wayno, it's super important to spread that message far and wide to at least attempt to keep the *&%$#! honest. That film, while beautiful still only encapsulates a fraction of how special that country is.
