Lees Hut to Arm

Postby kuriaken51 » Wed 17 Feb, 2010 7:35 pm

Can anyone advise as to how well the section from Lees Hut up to the Arm River Track is marked?
Thanks
Phil.

G'day,
The start of the track can be a wee bit confusing just ensure you cross the Warrugarra follow it upstream to the convergence of the forest, look for the track marker at the start then look up to find the first of the few star pickets with triangles on them ,from then on it is look out for the markers the pad is reasonably well used to be obvious other than in the Myrtle forest section but should present no real problems .There is a section of sphagnum bog which may throw you but keep in mind that you will be heading in a nor westerly direction, the track exits through the ruins of one of McCoys Huts at the top end of Lake Ayr from there keep to the edge of the trees on your left and you will pick up the poorly marked track to the registration box on the ART good walking.

As Corvus says the track isn't bad if you keep you peeps open.

As you near Reedy lake you can see Mt Oakley up ahead to the right as a landmark. You'll be fine.

Be aware that the track is incorrectly marked on the Cathedral 1:25000 map. Well as far as I know it still is. We discovered this after trying to follow it with GPS on our electronic version. I'd take flyfisher's advice; keep your peeps open. Wish we had.

Yes was aware that the marking of the track in this section is not accurate but wonder if is has been corrected on my latest Cathedral which states -"Reprinted with minor amendments" ??
