I came back from Bastion today.
Started out going up Split Rock on Meander Falls walk, got to a lookout over an open boulder scree and could see a crag in the cliff of Bastion, so we thought, why not! Got to the plateau and could see the true summit, decided to hoik it over there and met a lovely group at the summit, from the Launceston Ramblers (walking group), they came up from the Dell track.
We returned to the Meander circuit via our same route, visited falls, returned to car at Meander Falls carpark, 9.5 hours including rests and photos...
As we were on our way back to the chute in the cliff that we climbed, we passed another chute, looked like it might have been a bit easuer, and there was a cairn at the top. It faces pretty much directly towards Meander Dam.
While our route was possible, I wouldn't recommend the way we went, lots of loose rock and quite steep.
