After two trips in two years over the Arthurs Ranges I'm starting to wonder how long it would take to complete in a straight through no sidetrips trip. In good weather (feb/march (not this year)) I estimate seven days. This would be from Scotts Peak to Farmhouse linking the ranges by Lucifer Ridge. Has anyone done this? Or faster?
Took me 12 days with a side trip up Feders and a couple of short days. I reckon a fast walker could do it in 8 or 9 days. 7 would be way beyond me but might be feasible for some.
I'm considering having a go at this mid Feb - March 2012. I've got a few other walks planned in Tas around the same time. Would like to know how easily more experienced folks can polish off this route...
Personally not keen to try, but I'd be interested is heading about it. Chances of getting near perfect weather for ~7 days, right smack on the time you want to do it (regardless of what season) is extremely slim.
Here's a bigger challenge for ya - bag all the peaks on the 2 ranges in <10 days. (just pulled that out of the hat)

LOL, that would be jolly good fun... scratchy!

I think your walking from Hanging Lake to SPD in five days pretty much proves the case.
Your itenarary is pretty close to what I was thinking. I'd probably go from Haven Lake to Pass Ck camp though. This I've done already in both directions. Some others I might stretch out a bit too. I've done Pass Ck to Federation (hanging lake camp) in one day (following a rest day) and so might consider that as well if I'm in good nick, camping at Bechervaise. These would clearly be full days.
On this particular trip I'd probably aim to summit Fed but not much else unless I'd already pitched camp for the day. Making phone calls from high points would be the exeption.
hahahaha good luck Was in the Arthurs Feb 23 - Mar 2......lovely weather... one fine day, wet boots for 7 days, lots of mud, snow, hail. Seven days would have been a possible 5 years ago in the drought. Wait a bit, drought will return.
