Passed through Lee's Paddocks on Sunday. It's been over 15 years since I was there last, but it will always be a special place to me as it is to many bushwalkers. Thanks to Grant Evans and family for allowing us access. Next time I'm up there, which will be sooner rather than later, I'll be sure to check the hut and carry out any rubbish left.

Totally agree Andy P, the hospitality of the owners should never be taken for granted. No rubbish, bottles food etc should be left in the huts.

And thanks again to Grant and the Evans family.

PS Grant, do you know and/or can you let us know regarding access/ownership of Pine Hut now. :?:

Regarding access to The Paddocks via Pine Hut Plain, as this has been the access for the past hundred years plus this is the historical access and we don't see any problems going forward. We don't know who has purchased the property. As previously stated my mother Dympna Evans owns the northern end of The Paddocks & Judy Kilby owns the southern end around Wadleys Memorial Hut. Both owners & their families are opposed to any commercial activities being carried at The Paddocks, so regardless of who the new owner is, no commercial activities will be carried in The Paddocks. This is not negotiable. We wish for all who visit there to be able to do so freely, provided that they respect that it is private property, look after the area and the huts and realise that the owners have first use of the huts.

Thank you for responding. Here's hoping you are able to enjoy the forum as much as we all enjoy The Paddocks.

Went through The Paddocks ,Wadley's to Lee's on the 26th ,so nice to to see the Cattle and the evidence that they and the
Horses are keeping the track open and evident, long may this happen.
Looking at Pine Hut Plains I am at a loss as to the price paid for swampy paddocks with almost zero grazing use ,just hope it is money invested Wisely to allow the "right of way" to a 100 year precedent.

The bridge was built by FT....as is the total road system from the paddocks at Liena.

sirius,
Are we talking about the same bridge here, the Suspension Foot Bridge over the Mersey at Pine Hut Plains ?

Hi Corvus,
Yep...the suspension bridge...designed and built by FT(Actually was Parks)...I did some initial levels for it.
Same as the suspension bridge over the Meander on the Split Rock Falls track....built by Parks for FT
I will check with the guys to see if there's any part ownership by others??....answer below
Cheers
Teach me to jump to conclusions??

I thought I could remember asset numbers being attached to them, I thought those asset numbers related to Parks assets. I could be wrong. Would be interesting to know, but only for trivial purposes.

Hi Tasadam,
Yep..you're 100% correct.
I had some minor involvement...which lead me up the wrong path.
Reply from FT...as follows..

Answer to your question........... The swing bridge in the upper Mersey to pine hut plain/lees paddocks was constructed and paid for by Parks and Wildlife. (Probable funded through allocated WHA money)
The swing bridge across the Meander near apex hut was also constructed by parks for FT with money coming from WHA funding. Hope this will help you.

Sorry for misleading info.

Hi,

I am informed that Pine Hut Plains has changed ownership.

Information given to me is that the ownership is now Donovan & Garrett.

Paul.

The track is still open and to the best of my knowledge it will not be closed regardless of who owns it.

Hope this doesn't open a can of worms, havent been on this walk for 20 years or so, but what would the situation be for cycling here as its not a national park?

My friend to walk in to a an area like this lets you "smell the Roses" so to speak with all all of the attractions therein so where is fun "trundling" through in a Bike ?? you see nor smell little IMHO.

Whilst Lees paddocks and pine hut plain are private entities
all land inbetween is indeed a national park
