Yes..went to ministers office as next level were not answering phone.

Was advised ALL reserves and parks that have campgrounds in them are all still closed.

The reserve I was trying to access has two parts, the distant part has areas where camping is allowed, so thats why its taboo to enter the area.

That's at odds with what is published. All written advice is that "Tasmanian residents will be able to undertake exercise at national parks and reserves, including beaches in their local area. Residents should only use parks and reserves that they can walk, run or cycle to, or if this is not possible, can drive to within 30 kilometres of their place of residence." And "Visitor centres and campgrounds still remain closed until further notice." Nothing about any park or reserve reaming closed if it has campgrounds in it.

The parks website says

All parks and reserved lands managed by Tasmania Parks and Wildlife Service are accessible for the sole purpose of exercise.
Provided they are within 30km from your home.

Have found out Waterhouse Protected Area is also still locked up.

The message is as clear as mud, for this the Dept. of Premier & Cabinet is responsible. And the only message should be coming directly from them, and in writing.

But what has been made clear is that, in regards to virus, parks are open if your primary residence is within 30 road klm's of them.
And there is nothing in the roadmap to indicate that or when they will open further..

Tasmania to lift coronavirus restrictions ahead of schedule

Tasmania is relaxing coronavirus restrictions early, allowing more movement around the state ahead of the coming long weekend.

The state was due to move to "stage two" of its recovery "roadmap" on June 15, but many restrictions will now be lifted from 3:00pm this Friday.

Speaking this morning, Premier Peter Gutwein said camping and overnight stays would be permitted, and pubs and clubs, excluding nightclubs, would be allowed up to 40 patrons.

High school students in years seven to 10 will still return to classrooms on June 9, and racing will resume as planned on June 13.

Tasmania has only four active cases, and has not had a new positive case for 17 days.

"Measures taken here in Australia and in Tasmania especially have been swift and they have worked," Mr Gutwein said.

The Premier said it was time for the Tasmanians to "sensibly and responsibly" enjoy their state again, observing social distancing rules.

"Let's take this bold step to get this state back on track," he said.

Forgive my skepticism but it sounds like plans for the forthcoming summer seasons in WoJ and Frenchmans are being brought forward. Wonder how much that'll cost?
Also wondering which poor ranger going to have the wonderful job of policing Arm River Track trail head I understand the need to keep people out of the huts for COVID mitigation, but if someone wants to go up Mt Thetis, Pelion West and Proteus in the coming months - eg. myself - then maintaining social distancing isn't going to be an issue exactly.

'Environmental Concerns' would be very minor, a convenient excuse.

Being seen to overreact on Covid-19, logistical hassles, aspects of urban planning, however, very much in a managers mindset.
All the things put in the way by parks, their facilities and perceived need for control are in stark relief. We don't need huts, we don't need toilet rooms.

I doubt there's any insurmountable excuse to control numbers going out on overnight walks over winter. Especially via booking and restrictions that will never be rescinded.

As an aside, there's no way to use public huts with appropriate social distancing. Setting aside an inevitable transport hipocrisy, all planning for new huts should be suspended, all private accommodation leases should be called in (rather than infrastructure expanded to an appropriate size).

Future funding for hardened tracks, campsites and toilet waste receptacles, an increased educational staff presence. These tick the right boxes.

In fairness to PWS though they probably do have legit concerns about everyone suddenly flocking to national parks (just because they can now) on a long weekend when snow's forecast.

Agree, it must be a concern, and that's enough for it to be an issue. For the usual suspects that have to deal with problems on the ground maybe graduated chaos is better. At least there shouldn't be the mad scramble from tourists staying at eg. Cradle Mt.
