I was in last week and despite the steady drizzle in the lead up the mud wasn't too bad (ie., only half a dozen 'above the knee' mudholes). Most of it was the usual ankle - shin depth. The track workers are progressing with 'Dick's duckboard'. It was a bit odd seeing 'roadwork' signs at either end of their section (compulsory OH&S, I guess). Had Tahune hut to ourselves (2) but low cloud the whole time so not much to see above 1100m.
