Mon 21 Jun, 2010 4:07 pm

I like your train of thought - combine with Tasadam's 'maintenance' visit - what do you reckon Tastrax (hat off of course)
Mon 21 Jun, 2010 8:48 pm
Yeah, now you're talking, as indicated the area is managed by Parks, so if a Parks crew (a crew led by a member of parks) had to go in for a legitimate reason like maintenance, well, there's potential there.
Would need the cooperation of a Parks member, and would probably need arranging so whoever interested can put their name down for the walk, starting with the original poster/s and keeping it to a realistic size.
Legitimate reason = fire risk assessment with volunteer SES and/or other volunteer crew in training... Or any other BS you can come up with.
I'll leave it at that. Good luck.

You all are talking of ascension from Hobart side. Why not climb from turnoff opp. Molesworth School? That way you avoid "hillbillies" and their plantations LOL.

Yeah we have moved on Buddy, we are now talking about a full on aerial asault using PWS assets under the cover of darkness, and for some reason Tastrax has gone silent (He might be having dinner)
Mon 21 Jun, 2010 9:23 pm
Why not get the army involved? Just a little training exercise, with a few tanks, choppers, APCs, etc.
If nothing else it would scare off the banjo players . . .

I have heard rumours of certain "cash crops" being grown in the region. Hence the attention of the ferals who are not necessarily the land owners.

Maybe Ollster knows some more Russians - we could use their submarines to sneak up, then invade with a tank and/or nuclear weapons. They would never see us coming.

Funny(or not ) you should mention that Barry.
Whilst I dont know the area, When stu wrote about his encounter with the toothless grinners I did wonder about what else they may be protecting.

When Tastrax has finished dinner we may even come up with a better plan, involving the Drug Squad, to land a few peak baggers on top.

Another guy I know from the HWC met up with one of our "friends" while up there. He described a VERY nervous looking fidgety fella who appeared to have something to hide.

Buddy, my earlier post describes being chased by said hill-billys.
This was from the very road you are suggesting.
I suggest you remove your suggestion
Seems this mountain is a hill-billy fortress.
There has been reference in previous threads on Faulkner of ascent from near Copper Snake Gulley of Lyell Hwy (correct naming?);
tho once again, I'd be prepared for some good old fashioned 'hoe-downing' Faulkner style if the 'barn dance' started...interpret as you will

It was still a good idea Buddy,
Fantastic goal from 50m out on the sidelines against the dirty bombers the other night, Well done!!

Thanks Pete, I guess that means foot access is not gonna happen. Does this mean it is public land? Could we land a helicopter on it?
Tue 22 Jun, 2010 4:27 pm
Nope, it's a tree top mtn.
Tue 22 Jun, 2010 4:34 pm
Does that mean we need to speak to forestry before we can land a chopper on it?
Tue 22 Jun, 2010 4:39 pm
Like I said before I've been there, so im not fussed if the mtn remains unclimbed for the rest of it's days.....
Just thought i'd start this thread to see what I could find out for some peakbagging buddies.

I'm starting to think we need a BWT forum "official" peak bagging list... the HWC one is a decade old or so, and could do with a refresh. There are certainly some additions and subtractions which could take place.

Do you want us to take Fedder and Geryon South off the list for you as well?
Add Sontarans Head, and the Poodle?

May as well change the Geryon Nth peak considering you didn't go to the right one...

I cracked up reading this thread.
I grew up in Chigwell, and fortunately I have already been to the top many many years ago, (the embers were still glowing almost), so I've got the points (or is that
point) if ever I need to count them

.
Think I passed Burt Reynolds on the way down, he wasn't looking too healthy...

Give me a frikken break, I haven't even been to most of those yet! And, no, I've only been around the Anne circuit once, and FYI it was probably the 6th overnight walk I'd done so a tad intimidating for a noob. I wouldn't go cracking on about The Spires either, you haven't been up there!
Fri 25 Jun, 2010 8:21 am
Havent been up any of those peaks except Anne actually!!! Well and Gog.
I was just adding the ones I hear are a bit goey. airy, steep!!
Well Anne is 6 pts Oll, go do it as a daywalk!!!!!!!
Fri 25 Jun, 2010 9:01 am
Actually that's not a bad idea.
Fri 25 Jun, 2010 9:03 am
I know!! If I had the option of a 6pt daywalk i'd be there NOW!!!
