Another for the collection (and my choice for xmas voucher). I was also surprised to hear there's a kindle edition.
Promises to be a good read, even though a South Aussie I know Simon has a long association with the area. Many moons past I guided with his son and might owe them a review (if worthy  )

Also managed to squeeze enough for Kevin Dorans book (Fedders, .. ) and an old dogeared copy of 'Tasmania By Road and Track' Emmett, E. T. (& Abels 2 which I had though curiously also seems to have vanished..)

Re Frenchmans book, I too was pleasantly surprised and bought a copy. I thought it would be too obscure to be on Amazon, but there you go. It will be my next book to read.

And I just noticed it is also available from iTunes for those with iPads etc.

I've seen the Bob Brown one,. but the one I REALLY want is an extremely rare collection of Dombrovski's work- it's black bound, with a very limited release. When I first came across it about 4 years ago it was around $350, but now it's like a grand plus.

Ohhhh I wish I had the money....

Hi everyone, I have a Dombrovskis: A Photographic Collection book which I'm considering selling. It was published in 1998 and is very rare; of the very few books that have sold in the last few years, they have sold for greater than $1,000. It has black cloth with Peter Dombrovskis' photographic portrait laid into the front cover, with a matching black cloth-covered slip case. It is in virtually as-new condition and has been extremely well looked after (as one would hope for a book of this nature!). I am based in Tasmania.

My apologies if someone has already mentioned this, I can recommend Frank Hurley's Tasmania: A Camera Study. It was published first in 1953 so is getting on a bit. Mostly 'touristy' stuff but also a few pics taken 'off the beaten track', especially a set of views from around Frenchman's Cap. Hurley was a master of the B&W, and there are several hand-coloured shots as well in the book.

Re. E.T. Emmett's book, you can still find the eText of this on the Internet. But the hard copy is very nice I have to admit

Finally, I had a copy of Dombrovski's Wild Rivers (1st Edn) signed by Bob Brown. I gave it to a friend - I hope he enjoyed it!!!

Just in case anyone is feeling cashed up and wants to add what I think is the ultimate book of wilderness photographs to their collection, I just spotted this on the interwebs - Dombrovskis: A photographic collection

Rarely seen and never at that price.

(and I have no affiliation with the seller nor is it mine, I'd give lefty up before I'd let go of my copy!)

Excellent reference book, however I found that a magnifying glass was handy for the tiny illustrations of maps, flora, fauna ect.

Well done! I seem to remember that Collins's book was a bit controversial when it first came out: something to do with disclosure of information about the N.E. ridge of Mt Anne??? Maybe it was dropped from subsequent printings!

(But then, even John Chapman incurred the wrath of some with his 'track notes' in one or two guidebooks)

Lots of good Tasmanian walking books in the Campbell Town bookshop. Opposite the Red Bridge.

Just purchased Chris Bell's latest book on the Tarkine. Some outstanding photography and well worth the $85. His next planned book (a large Australia wide volume) should be really something to look forward to.

I've recently been "grounded" due to injury, and have been reading a little more. As this collage hints, most are about walking! When you can't walk, you can always read about walking :? I also wrote a wee blog post about it. http://www.naturescribe.com/2015/02/dreamwalking.html

cheers
