I've got the gear sorted and I'm looking to start off with some easy overnight (or long day walks that can be turned into overnight) walks in the NW (will be based out of Burnie).
If anyone has any suggestions please let me know.

Barn Bluff
Walls of jerusalem
Mt Rogoona
Lake Nameless (or many other of the lakes on the central plateau)
Mt Oakleigh

I don't think it would really require much in the way of navigating skills to make it to Mt Geikie on the second day, as it seems quite obvious in all the photos I've seen of the area. Again, it's all weather dependent, but isn't that always the case in tassie?

Are you in Burnie for good, or just for a little while? I'm studying up here for the year and my partner and I will hopefully be doing a few overnighters over the next couple of months, I'm sure you'd be welcome if you wanted to tag along! We've decided to set the Abels as our goal, so most will involve some mountain "climbing", but neither of us are particularly fast or fit, so nothing too strenuous!
