I decided to spend New Years Day at Cradle Mountain as I had done for many years, and took a posy of native blooms to place on Weindorfer's grave from Mavis Rowland's garden in Burnie. A wreath of native plants was already in place so it was good to know that others were remembering to day. It was all very quiet compared to past years, but between the rain showers, there was a serenity pervading Waldheim, with the few tourists passing through in their cars making little disturbance. I understand that Kentish Council and Parks are in discussions about celebrating Gustav and Kate Weindorfer's contribution to the Cradle region in a different way and on a different date.
