I am have found interesting information from the wellington park heritage audit http://www.wellingtonpark.org.au/assets ... rtvol2.pdf

that notes some huts are known to be located and extant, but the information is classified. I have been to one- Kara and am on the lookout for the retreat and sama.

Can anyone help me out? I am aware these are community secret stuff but PM me if you prefer.

Any other suggestions for hidden mountain areas of interest are always appreciated.

Sama (aka A frame, Lost World, Tysons) is in a well known location and it's location has been published in many forms. A nice little round trip of an hour or two is to combine a visit to Sama with a visit to Scout Hut (aka Moons) and a bit of exploration of the top of Mt Arthur. Add another hour and you can throw in Lost World too.

If you look carefully you will see cairn marked routes across the top of Mt Arthur splitting off the Lost World track. Park at Big Bend and start the Lost World track from there. To find Sama, walk Lost World track to it's highest point (about 5 to 10 mins) and rather than follow the trail off the side of the ridge, look for cairns or minor tracks that continue along the edge of the ridge line. Sama itself is below the ridge line much further along (perhaps 10 to 30 mins ... sorry, it's been a very long time since I visited!) Scout hut can be found by continuing from Sama couter clockwise around the mountain (follow a trail). Scout hut can also be found by taking a direct route across the top of Mt Arthur on a cairn marked track branching off Lost World just after the start of the track.

Mt Arthur is so small you can just explore the whole thing within 3 or 4 hours by rock scrambling.
