Tas Fires Jan 2014

There is a lot of smoke about Hobart today. On the way home I was told by the bottlo staff (usually very reliable source of news and cricket / AFL scores) there were 3 fires about Hobart.

But I can only see 1 on what I have as the Tas Fire resource. http://www.fire.tas.gov.au/Show?pageId=colGMapBushfires&ll=-43.11619687335371,146.9644887899451

Am I looking at the wrong page or is there a better online resource to check these things???

Smoke is coming from the NW fires apparently. The main three around this end of the state were Wattle Hill, Ouse and Lachlan last I heard.

I can see Wattle Hill but no Ouse or Lachlan.

There are fires showing at Granville Harbour and East of Lake Burbury and that's it.

Too many to list, so i'll just post that.

Only one or 2 are looking serious though.

I am a complete and utter idiot.

I did not realise a white diamond meant a fire but with no warnings issued. Thank you baeurabasher for pointing my understanderscope in the right direction.

I dont know you well enough to draw a conclusion like that sorry.

No problem. It's one of the fullest pages i've seen on that site, hot and windy is always a concern. A bit of a cooler change coming for a day or 2 before heating up for the weekend.
Hopefully they can get them under some kind of control.

You could be my long-lost brother, as we share traits. The legend on the map is not especially easy to read, being a tad small. There's rather a lot of warnings. The map is better than some. Thanks.

We are in Seven Mile beach. A fire started up near Cambridge, of no slight concern! It rained a bit of ash on us, but it was so windy the smoke went elsewhere.

We've been watching the fire at spread at Wattle Hill, looks like its getting quite large. But the wind change blew that smoke away north.

Certainly could be if it heads south - especially if one has planned to head into the Franklands next week. I will be keeping an eye on this one. Dry lightning I presume?

But I see that parks are keeping a close eye on it. It would be a shame to lose all that Huon Pine
