West Coast Fires and Walking Tracks: Update

This has just been posted on the Tas Parks & Wildlife facebook page.

Update on tracks affected by the West Coast fires
14 February 2014

• The Nelson Falls walking track is now open, however it will be closed on days of high fire danger and above.
• Mt Donaldson walking track is now open
• Frenchmans Cap track remains open, however the route from Tahune Hut – Irenabyss – Raglan Range – Lyell Highway remains closed.
• Donnellys Lookout on the Heemskirk Road remains closed.

... and this for the Southern Ranges:

Walkers please note that the Moonlight Ridge Track to Pindars Peak in the Southwest National Park has been re-opened as the fire in that area is now contained.

If you are heading out that way I can probably get you the Incident Controllers email so you can at least advise them of your intentions. PM me if you are serious.
