Tahune Air walk

Postby kanangra » Fri 11 Jul, 2014 10:15 am

I've just got back from a few days in Tassie. we stayed in Hobart and had day trips from there including to Bruny Island. One day we drove out to Tahune on the Arve Rd. Quite a lot of development out there now. The bridge would appear to be for pedestrian traffic only now? I thought the Huon River looked great for pack rafting. Is this often done? On the way out we took a left turn and ended up in Judbury. Seemed to be quite a way around. Crossed the Huon on a huge concrete bridge. So perhaps a paddle down from Tahune to this bridge would be possible? Just upstream of this bridge another river flowed in on the left. This wouldn't be the Arve River would it? I only had the old 1:100,000 sheet and it didn't show the road we were on at all.

Just up stream from Tahune is where the Picton River meets the Huon. Lots of people raft The Picton and Huon. A popular hard packraft trip is taking the Anne River which meets the Huon.
