Attention: Walkers lost/delayed in Lake Rhona area

Postby ollster » Tue 15 Jul, 2014 5:02 pm

Hi all,

Long time, no post and all that.

A friend of a friend was walking in the Lake Rhona area late last week and has not returned to work as planned today and has not been able to be contacted by phone. The police have been informed, but if anyone knows anyone who was walking in the Lake Rhona area who might have seen this person, please get in touch. His name is Stuart and he was walking with his wife Bobby. Stuart is quite tall and drives a gold pulsar. We are hoping all this worry is premature and they have just been delayed due to bad weather etc., but just in case.

Cheers, Oll.

Hi Oll,

Check out the cumulative rainfall in that area since the 11th of July.
Highly likely the Gordon River water level is way up.

Hopefully they are okay and just waiting for the water level to drop.

Looks like they're ok and simply stuck on the wrong side of the Gordon River, as hoped. Local coppers went and called out and received a reply from the far bank. :-)

Good to hear. What next? Wait for the water to recede or chopper or boat?
Just move it!

That's a giant relief.

It seems it'll just be a case of waiting until the water recedes, and if that doesn't happen by the end of the week (!!!) then alternative plans will be attempted by the rescue people/police. Boat might be a bit risky on that river, given it's logginess.

Bit light on for disturbing banter since I went on my pilgrimage? Is it time for a second dark age?

Always. Both life and this forum are a bleak desert without you.

This is the dark age. Your (re-)exodus would would be like the imprisonment of Copernicus.

If you guys start an "Sir Oll, please don't go" thread and can get... one hundred people to agree then I'll do it. They all have to be existing members, and they all have to write something offensive about me so they get censored by the mods.
