Is there plenty of places to fill up on the Frenchmans Cap walk?
Does it need any treatment (Aquatabs)?
Any suggestions on how much I should carry on Day 1 would be great.
Cheers!

It depends on when you walk. Late summer with no rain in the month beforehand I'd probably carry a litre or so. In winter I'd carry none.

Treatment is up to you. I don't, but will avoid places where humans may have pooped upriver.

The highest risk water is near the huts.

EDIT: It depends on how much Tassie walking you have done and how happy you are drinking out of smaller rivulets. I carry very little water in general, but when it's hot and dry it's often faster to carry extra.

You do cross several big waterways on the 1st day. Any river that needs a bridge is big. The bridges are noted on the map.

Unless the forecast is to be hot (by your own measure) a litre / person should be OK subject to review and re-fill at each waterway.

I would treat/filter any water from the lakes.

A Sawyer Mini is about the same price as a box of aquatabs but lasts forever.

There is a water tank at Vera Hut but I would still advise treating this.

Aside from the Franklin and Lodden rivers there is also a stream on the way from Vera to Barron Pass.

There's also a small creek and bridge on the new section of track.
