Name that Peak?

Postby Lannister » Fri 26 Sep, 2014 11:07 pm

Hello, can anybody help me identify this peak? Went to Cape Raoul, this photo is off from the Cape Raoul Lookout. You can see Bruny Island in the foreground, and there's some peaks in the background. One of the peaks is very pointy. I think it's near the Southern Ranges, but I'd be very grateful if somebody could identify it! The first photo shows Shipstern's Bluff, and the second photo shows south of where the first photo cuts off. I'm pretty certain that the bay visible is Adventure Bay. Any help from the experienced bushwalker would be much appreciated! Cheers!

Probably Pindars. Not PB.
Men wanted for hazardous journey. Low wages, bitter cold, long hours of complete darkness. Safe return doubtful.

Agreed. Pinders just right from La Perouse. PB is in the same photo but mid RHS.

One more vote for the Big P. Nothing else it can be.

Have fun with that one. Might as well go all the way to PB and knock of Wylly and VC while you're at it. Much more fun than back-tracking.

Walk up PB they said, it'd be fun, they said.

Jokes aside, I can't wait until I do Wylly and VC.

You didn't catch the sarcasm?

Both worth the effort - Wylly is such a short detour from the route it's hardly even worth taking the packs off.
Of course, if you're doing VC, you should make a full day of it and get out to Bisdee as well. It'll be fun.

I'm not sure if that was tongue in cheek nnw, but I was definitely being sarcastic too.
I wasn't expecting easy going up PB, and I kinda regret going back to do the rest of the SCT instead of the southern ranges.

PB wasn't that bad. The track was in very good condition when I went through in 2012. I went up Wylly with a full pack, and VC was about 4 hours return from the Wylly Plateau. It is a bit crappy down under Kameruka Moraine, but you don't spend very long there. South Cape Range was the worst bit of track on that walk!

Oh YES!!!! I think it's gotten worse since the first time I did it. Wonder if we can persuade Dick French to pay for a new track through there.
