Exploring the Walls

Postby Gulliver3 » Tue 07 Oct, 2014 4:24 pm

Have previously visited the WOJ and enjoyed looking around the central walls area. From our base at Dixon's would like this time to look a little further afield as regards the Zion Vale and Golden Gate area. Can anyone direct me as to where a pad/route from the main track may be located? From the map a logical spot appears to be in the Gate of Chain behind Bethesda area or not?

I've done a bit of off-track rambling up there, and never found the scrub to be much of a hindrance. You can cross at Herod's Gate and go up Ophel and then follow the ridge right around (including a visit to Siloam), go up over Zion Hill, or through either the Golden Gate or the Gate of the Chain. Or down from Jaffa Gate - there are faint pads running down there - not that you need them as it's pretty much open.
