Where to buy gas on Sunday betw Launceston and Lake St.Clair

I'm flying into Launceston airport on a Sunday and heading straight to Lake St. Clair to walk into the Labyrinth. I'll need to pick up a couple of gas bottles somewhere - any suggestions about where I could get such an item on a Sunday morning? I can't bring it with me - not on Jetstar!

Thanks.

Ray's Outdoors or Bunnings - both close to the city centre.

Are you talking about LPG gas bottles or butane gas canisters. The first you can get at pretty much any servo on the way to LSC. The second you can get either at any outdoor store in Launceston, most of them are open on a Sunday from about 9am. Otherwise the Visitor Center at LSC sells butane canisters.

Thank you both. Butane is what is needed - visitor centre at LSC is probably the best option - no need to travel into Kingston or the city.

Are you after the cheap long butane canisters, or the hiking specific ones (propane/butane/isobutane blends)?

Ring the visitor centre and ask:
1. What are their hours on a Sunday
2. Can they put some aside for you

They may stock them, but if you don't check stock levels a few days in advance, you might be disappointed.

Lake St Clair should have them, just call them up.
Phone: 03 6289 1172

Launceston paddy and MD are open if that fails.
