Just a warning to anyone heading up that way forestry have the track to Mt Wedge closed for april and may.

Someone should ask them to post on here when they are planning to shut access off, thankfully I was heading to the Sentinals so it didnt affect me, But I did get caugh out recently wanting to climb Mt Picton only to find the road closed.

My experience is that any time you need to use a Forestry track to access a walk it's worth checking in advance so you don't get disappointed. Incidentally, when we were on Wedge recently we found a portakabin style building a few metres from the summit beside a helipad - not exactly the unspoilt, wild atmosphere you hope to find (almost) in the SW.
