Scoparia flowering reports please!

Tue 15 Dec, 2015 4:05 pm

Hey folks,

I'd like to hear what stage the scoparia is at in different spots if you can spare your thoughts.

I'm hearing mixed reports, very region dependant. For example I've heard the Walls may be past its prime? I was up on Mt Wellington about a week ago and it looked to me like it was still very early days. Seen photos from stepbystep on the Southern Ranges which seems to put it about peak now?

I also came across a report around Ossa from late October saying it was in flower then!?!

Keen too to hear your general experiences with timings in different areas over the years if you have them!

There was a heap of the stuff flowering all over the eastern part of the Eldons - Castle Mtn, High Dome, Pyramid Mtn etc - back in October. The relatively dry winter and spring have brought in on early.

I agree with NNW. I visited WOJ in mid November and they had already passed flowering and it was extremely dry up there.

It's still in full swing in parts of the Central Plateau Nick. I took these 2 days ago in the Blue Peaks area, at about the same altitude as The Walls. Some are finishing/burning off, but some are still yet to burst. I've certainly seen bigger display years, but they're still well worth the effort,

cheers

Peter

I'll let you know what is happening up Cradle way over the next couple of days. It was in flower at Rocky Hill in early November, and was almost past it a week later at Macs Mountain.

Southern Reserve, New Year.
Finished at Walled but further out there was plenty. Green Bluff in particular was in full swing, with every colour you could think of. And mercifully, it was pretty low growing stuff, too.
