PLB Hire Hobart

Hi all,

I have a problem - planning on hiring a PLB from Service Tasmania Hobart next Friday 22nd for a leisurely stroll out around Mt Anne circuit, and returning on Tuesday....forgot it was a public holiday Tuesday 26th and Service Tas won't be open for me to drop the PLB back. Don't plan on being back in Hobart before Tuesday and we fly back to Brisbane that day.

Anyone ever come across this issue with returning PLB's to Service Tas on weekends or public holidays and have any suggestions? Any alternate places I can hire one? I saw the online EPIRBhire but their prices are a bit steep... Nobody in Brisbane seems to hire them out and I didn't really want to go and buy my own just yet.

Only other thing I thought of was to bring an express post satchel with me and put it in the mail on Tuesday and hope they get it. If it goes AWOL I'm down $550!

Just guessing, but if there's an open police station anywhere you might be able to drop it off there. Or the ranger station at Mt Field.

is it still possible to hire them from mt. Field, could be a solution to your problem ....
