Hi,

I'm considering doing the PCT in february or march (if the fires/rivers allow it), and would like to know if anyone here had a complete or even partial GPX/KML track of the trail?

There is a partial route on OpenStreetMap, from two years ago:

It's great but I would like to have another recorded route to make sure it is accurate.

Yep I've got them already thanks, as well as the book from Tyrone Thomas "100 walks in Tasmania" which has good maps, but well GPS track is just more convenient when in doubt or lost

EntWorld should have the PCT covered . . . there's a thread in here (i)somewhere(/i) that links to the maps . . .

I think it's this thread. You might need to start and the end and work your way back until you find the instructions for the latest version. But I have it on an Oregon 450 and it works well. Very good maps overall. http://www.bushwalk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=14234

He has the data from OSM, the same thing that I pointed in my first post, but I'm looking for another trace just to be sure

It goes against the grain somewhat to say this, but a great deal of the Tasmanian track data on OSM was done by that bloke, and he was painstaking. It's more reliable than anything you'll find anywhere.

Just completed the walk on saturday 13th and the GPS track on OSM was accurate when we checked our position, so can only recommend it For anyone wondering you can download the GPX here: http://www.wandermap.net/hu/official/31 ... dle-trail/

Track conditions are good as it is really dry, so almost no mud along the way, great weather. But as a side effect the track in Leven Canyon was sometimes crumbling/sliding under our feet on the driest parts, quite scary sometimes, very slow progress (plus quite a number of fallen trees on the track). The trail was superbly marked and easy to follow, but quite overgrown with slow progress between Mt Beecroft turn-off and Speeler/Fury Plain, and sometimes hard to find the next marker in the myrtle forest. But overall a great experience, I can't believe only ~30 people walk it every year!

Surprised at this as recently a bunch of ladies walked out of Speeler/Beecroft in the dark with no mention of the track being difficult in this area.

Something might be easy for someone but hard for someone else It was our first multi day walk in Tasmania, but did lots of walking before on the mainland before, including some quite overgrown and scrubby stuff in WA. But for my walking standard the track between the zig zags down Mt Beecroft turn-off and Speeler Plain is overgrown and hard as you have to battle against the scrub to progress.

The myrtle forest between Fourways and Speeler is not a hard section, but we followed false leads two or three times as fallen trees have made it harder to spot the next track marker at some places. But it's not hard, just have to backtrack to the last marker and find the real track
