Has anyone been up Higgs Track since the fires?
I heard that Lady Lake hut had been saved which implied that the fire had come close.
Planning to go there soon with someone who has happy memories of starting her walking with that track in the 50s, but don't want her to see it devastated without some warning.

Hello Chris, I went for a walk up Higgs Track on Saturday 9-4-16 no fire damage anywhere near hut or even visible on nearby hills. The attached photos show the hut and around the Lady Lake. On the National Parks website there was a story about the Sandy Lake hut being saved from fire. The Sandy Lake hut is over at Lake MacKenzie so that was affected by the fires

Hi Chris, the fire stopped it's march at the NE edge of Lake McKenzie and stretched in a straight line to the northern edge of the plateau. All the damage was to the west of that line.

Thanks Teak and Dan that's great news. Maybe I mis-heard the hut name on the radio report.
It's still as beautiful as I remember it, so looking forward to another visit very soon.
