Does anyone know if there is a track up to Tyenna Peak from the Maydena end?

I have a 1989 map of the Mt Field area, and there's no track on that (tracks seem to be dissappearing from newer maps, so an old one might have had it if it was there).

There is a track from the Lake Dobson Rd around Wombat Moor to Lake Belton, which is just below Tyenna Pk.

I've been to Florentine Pk from K Col before. No track, but open going with scree and not much scrub. Would hopefully be similar onward to Tyenna.

Sorry that's probably not that much help.

Don't know of any tracks from Maydeena end either, sorry.
Probably the most direct route would be as described by wello with a scrub bash up the hill
(aim for the rock screes as seen on the 1:25k map).

I have done Tyenna as a summer day walk (8 hours return with a bung knee on the return leg) from Lake Dobson via Florentine Peak;
the going is open all the way from Florentine with some good boulder hopping & the odd sink hole.

The photo below is taken from a bit over half way between Florentine & Tyenna & is indicative of the terrain.

Cheers.
Stu.

Thanks guys. I have been out to Florentine via KCol and remember the boulder hopping well, I also got a pretty sore knee on the way back. I had some vague thought there was an old track from the Maydena end but obviously deluding myself. I think I will have a go at Tyenna it from from Lake Belton when the weather warms up
cheers

Hi bw,

let us know how you go coming up from Belton. I had been thinking of going from Florentine Pk, but haven't been to Lake Belton before, so would make for a good double & have been to the other peaks in that area a few times. I doubt I will get there for a while :( , but if I beat you to it will post some track notes here :)
Cheers
