This area sees a lot of tourists so let's hope someone has seen him, though having read some of his trip reports I suspect he might have headed off the beaten track.

This is an old walking friend of mine, and member of this forum. I hope he is found safe and well soon.

This is too close to home, I hope Andrew is safe and they get in touch with him soon.

Deeply and sincerely hope to be wrong, but I have a very bad feeling about this . . . . :(

Damn it, Andrew -get out of there and make me eat my words!

Fantastic news to hear, I've enjoyed his blog posts, now just waiting for this story ;)

Photos have him looking pretty muddy! Off track gone wrong? Could the bogs of Malaysia possibly be worse than the bogs of Tasmania?

Sounds like he had no navigation devices, maps, or GPS etc. Lucky man.

"By the end of it I was quite concerned I wouldn't make my 26th birthday."

Must have been a very frightening experience. Two weeks is a very long time to be lost in a foreign wilderness alone! So glad to hear he's OK.

I heard he was found on my way to work. Glad he was OK, if a bit worse for wear.

Glad this one worked out. Kudos to the professionalism of the local SAR staff and their abilities in what must be very tough terrain to search in. Limited Last Known, and they looked that long to get him, well done.

Hello everyone,

My father notified me of the existence of this thread.

Thanks for your concern...

Made some pretty big errors here considering my relatively extensive experience walking in Tasmania. Unfortunately I learnt my lesson the hard way around this time. I was overconfident walking into what I perceived to be a relatively straightforward track. The lesson here is to be overprepared - especially when trekking alone. Always take the appropriate navigation equipment and if possible an emergency beacon. I will certainly be abiding by this in the future...

Good to hear from you Andrew.

Is it too soon to joke about being fortunate to have so much help in 'finding yourself'?

Haha... you can make as many jokes as you like. Just bear in mind that I've heard them all before
