Well, for those that have been to Marriotts Falls recently - there's a whacking big tree has now fallen from way up on top and speared down the front of the falls, and hit with enough force to explode everywhere - the little glade under the falls is no more - it's now a tangle of exploded wood shards, tree trunks and branches!

A couple of years since I visited these falls. From memory there was a bit of deadfall you had to scramble around to get to that little glade, but this sounds diabolical. Photos?

I'll see what I can find... and yeah, there was always the duck and scramble to get in, and you wander along the old rotting log before the little ferny glade... that's still there, but the actual base of the falls is a mess...

Thanks for posting the pics Richard. Yes that's a mess - and I'm glad I wasn't standing there when it fell

. Over time of course it will become more integrated with the surroundings and be less jarring to the eye. Looks like close up access has already been more or less restored via the log itself

.

Yes, it would've been impressive to watch it fall - as it's come from 40m up on top of the rock shelf - it would've shook the ground!!

What a shame...
On the bright side that log looks like it would give a pretty cool view
